EPILOGUE

Andy's facebook account was exploding with messages. So many friends wondering where he was. Asking if he was okay. It was overwhelming.

Roger and Tony had created a missing person page for him on facebook as well, desperate for any information about his whereabouts. Over the past month, the page had expanded into a stream of photos and moving tributes from all corners of his life. Friends, close and distant, classmates, old and new, all came out of the woodwork to voice their concern for his disappearance. Family members he hadn't seen in years, cousins, aunts, uncles, sang his praises and shared childhood memories. Even those whom Andy thought hated him or even bullied him in his youth had nice thing to say. His parents didn't know the first thing about facebook, of course, so Roger and Tony transcribed their words into a long post anchored at the top of the page. It was an emotional plea for his return. They told Andy how much they loved him and how regretful they were of their strained relationship at the time of his disappearance.

CHAPTER 25

If you've ever wondered what it would feel like to have all your senses simultaneously ravaged, Andy would suggest taking a whirl in the tuner. If you want to simulate the experience, look directly into the sun, press your ears to a jet engine, then spin until your organs try to escape your body through your back from the centrifugal force. Oh, and that metallic taste on your tongue? That's the taste of terror and hysteria from the most primal depths of your lizard brain as all your bearings abandon you. You don't know whether to scream, cry, laugh, vomit or shit your pants. If the human body was capable of doing all those things at once, it probably would.

Andy made a mental note to himself: If you survive this, email a sternly worded complaint to the tuner designer.

CHAPTER 24

In the center of a black, featureless void, the Praxians saw a middle-aged human male in a nicely pressed powder blue button-up shirt tucked into a pair of well-worn jeans. His face was framed by a magnificent brown afro that formed a perfect puffy sphere around his head. The afro dovetailed into a neatly trimmed beard surrounding a smile of perfect sanguinity. He stood before a canvas and easel with a brush in one hand and a wooden palette dabbed with vibrant colors in the other. He spoke in a soft, deer-like voice which immediately lulled any viewer into a trance of hypnotic serenity.

"Now just dab some of that ol' Titanium White onto your brush and very lightly lay in some snow," he purred, barely above a whisper.

Chapter 23

"We know it's you, B101," D86 muttered gravely, pointing his rifle. "So turn off the hologuiser and drop the gun!" He pinned Dash with a withering look. She crumpled like an empty paper box. Then he called out to Mo. "And you! We have five flame throwers trained on you, so don't even think about transforming. Big or small, you're going to be fried."

"Okay, okay," Andy cried. "Don't shoot!"

They dropped their guns, and Dash deactivated her hologuiser. Mo took off his sword belt, but unbeknown to anyone, he pressed one of the gems studded into the buckle as he dropped it to the floor. Then he stepped forward with his hands raised.

"Fellas. Relax," he said in a breezy voice. "I'm on your team. I was bringing them to you."

Chapter 22

An hour later, Yumi, Mo and Andy were back on the zoo grounds. Yumi and Andy were shoved out of D86's hovervan which was parked just inside the front gate. D86 nudged them forward with the barrel of his blaster rifle. Mo was draped over his shoulder like a dead fish, still out of it. Their bags and Andy's sword hung from D86's other shoulder.

"Move it!" he barked. Andy and Yumi tumbled out of the rear hatch of the van, the chains of their handcuffs rattling behind their backs. Andy's lips were caked with blood. He felt lucky to have kept all his teeth.

"Green Eggs and Ham" Announcement

A few months ago, I started working for Warner Bros. I'm storyboarding on an adaptation of “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss. It’s produced by Ellen Degeneres and the first season of 13 episodes will air on Netflix in 2018. There's so much amazing talent on this team, and I feel really lucky and honored to be part of it. It's too early in the production for me to show anything, but I hope you'll check it out when it airs. I think it’s going to be a great show with beautiful visuals if the animation tests I've seen are any indication.

You can watch Ellen announce the show for the first time in the video above.

CHAPTER 21

Fifteen minutes later, Dash pushed one last button on the control desk and they were done.

"There, that should do it," she said.

Andy held out his fist. "Excellent! Pound it!"

Dash stared curiously back and forth between Andy's face and his outstretched fist. Then she shrugged and bumped it. A second later, Andy found himself on the other side of the room, the back of his chair plastered against the wall. That's what happens when you're in a rolling office chair and Dash "taps" your fist. During his excitement, Andy had forgotten just how strong she was.

"A little lighter next time," he whimpered, shaking out his hand. "Ow..."
